Make sure you have a good reason to end the phone call.
Find a breaking point in the conversation. When there is a pause in the conversation, use this time to speak up. Be patient. Interrupting someone, growling, grunting, or sighing loudly is rude and may offend the person.
State a reason for ending the conversation so the person on the other line doesn't think you are just hanging up on them.
Apologize for having to end the conversation.
Plan a time where one of you can talk again, or say that you'd like to talk again sometime. Perhaps you can talk online with the person.
Pause for a brief response and then say goodbye before you hang up.
Here are some examples of good ways to quickly end a conversation:
• "I'm really sorry, but I have to go, it's dinner time. I'll call you tomorrow, OK? (pause) Bye!"
• "Sorry got to go, there's someone at the door, bye"
• "Oh my gosh! [Insert name of pet, younger sibling or child here!] Stop! You're going to kill yourself! Stop! Hold on!" [Hang up] If they call back later or something tell that the pet/ younger sibling/ child almost fell off the counter, or pulled a bookshelf down or something similar, but they ended up OK, despite some bruises and scrapes.
• "Hey, I'm going to have to let you go because I have to get off the phone."
• "Well I must be running up your bill, so I'll let you get on now, take care, bye"
Here are some examples specifically for mobiles(cells):
• "Oh, I've got to go, my battery/credits about to go, sorry, bye" This works especially well if you can make your phone beep first to sound like a battery/credit low warning.
• "Hello? [Pause] Helloooo? Are you still there? [Pause] I'm sorry, but all I can hear is a sort of fuzzy noise so I'm going to hang up, bye" This implies that the signal on your phone has gone and you can't hear them, remember to ignore everything they say and talk over them if you want to be convincing.
• Just hang up. As long as you hang up in the middle of your sentence rather than theirs, they'll assume you were cut off. You can always say you were going through a tunnel or your battery or credit run out.
Be very polite and assertive. If they ignore your request and continue to talk, you may need to be more assertive.
1. Don't make the same excuses all the time, the other person may get the hint.
2. If they keep calling, and you don't like them, tell them you're busy or just rudely and impolitely hang up on the person. If they're smart they will take the hint.
3. If you have a caller ID, and the person keeps calling, ignore the calls. They will definitely get the hint after five times or so.
Warnings
• If you choose to use the final one be careful how often you use it, and keep them away from your pet,(or kid or little Sib) until they had time for their (imaginary) injuries to heal. You might want to say that your pet or kid has 'escaped', because this doesn't involve injuries.
• Do not use ridiculous excuses, such as, "I have to go eat my pie now," or "Sorry, I have to go watch television/check my email." This will irritate and anger the person you are talking to.

How to Be Successful Making Telephone Sales

Perhaps you can use a mantra, repeating over and over the words "sell, sell, sell". Or perhaps you need total calm and just go to that place where you can hone in on your confidence. Perhaps you can play a game with yourself and pretend that the fate of the world depends on your hitting the sales targets.
Have sustenance nearby. Keep water or energy drinks within reaching distance. That way, you will be able to keep your voice in great shape even though you are doing a lot of talking.

THE CASE FOR PRECAUTION IN THE USE OF CELL PHONES
ANALYSIS OF RECENT STUDIES
Electromagnetic fields generated by cell phones should be considered a potential human health risk. Sufficient time has not elapsed in order for us to have conclusive data on the biological effects of cell phones and other cordless phones—a technology that is now universal.
Studies in humans do not indicate that cell phones are safe, nor do they yet clearly show that they are dangerous. But, growing evidence indicates that we should reduce exposures, while research continues on this important question.
Manufacturers report that cell and wireless phones emit electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic fields are likely to penetrate the brain of children more deeply than adults. Modeling in the diagram below estimate that young children are more susceptible to electromagnetic fields due to smaller sized brains and softer brain tissue.

2) Living tissue is vulnerable to electromagnetic fields within the frequency bands used by cell phones (from 800 to 2200 MHz) even below the threshold of power imposed by most safety standards ( 1.6 W/Kg for 1g of tissue), notably an increase in the permeability of the blood-brain barrier and an increased synthesis of stress proteins. [3, 4, 5, 6]
The most recent studies, which include subjects with a history of cell phone usage for a duration of at least 10 years, show a possible association between certain benign tumors (acoustic neuromas) and some brain cancers on the side the device is used. [6, 7, 8, 9]
However, human epidemiological studies on cell phones conducted to date cannot be conclusive. Due to their recently increased use, we are not yet able to evaluate their long term impact on health. Even where an association between exposure and cancer is well established and the risk very high -- as with tobacco and lung cancer -- under similar study conditions (in other words with people who smoked for less than 10 years) it would be difficult, if not impossible, to identify an increased risk of cancer, as the risk appears mostly 15 to 35 years later. [7]
THE TEN PRECAUTIONS given the absence of definitive proof in humans of the carcinogenic effects of electromagnetic fields of cell phones, we cannot speak about the necessity of preventative measures (as for tobacco or asbestos). In anticipation of more definitive data covering prolonged periods of observation, the existing data press us to share important prudent and simple measures of precaution for cell phone users, as have been variously suggested by several national and international reports. [6, 9, 10, 11, 12]
These measures are also likely to be important for people who are already suffering from cancer and who must avoid any external influence that may contribute to disease progression.
1 Do not allow children to use a cell phone except for emergencies. The developing organs of a fetus or child are the most likely to be sensitive to any possible effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields.
2 While communicating using your cell phone, try to keep the cell phone away from the body as much as possible. The amplitude of the electromagnetic field is one fourth the strength at a distance of two inches and fifty times lower at three feet.
3 Whenever possible, use the speaker-phone mode or a wireless Bluetooth headset, which has less than 1/100th of the electromagnetic emission of a normal cell phone. Use of a hands-free ear piece attachment may also reduce exposures.
4 Avoid using your cell phone in places, like a bus, where you can passively expose others to your phone’s electromagnetic fields.
5 Avoid carrying your cell phone on your body at all times. Do not keep it near your body at night such as under the pillow or on a bedside table, particularly if pregnant. You can also put it on “flight” or “off-line” mode, which stops electromagnetic emissions.
6 If you must carry your cell phone on you, make sure that the keypad is positioned toward your body and the back is positioned toward the outside so that the transmitted electromagnetic fields move away from your rather than through you.
7 Only use your cell phone to establish contact or for conversations lasting a few minutes as the biological effects are directly related to the duration of exposure. For longer conversations, use a land line with a corded phone, not a cordless phone, which uses electromagnetic emitting technology similar to that of cell phones.
8 Switch sides regularly while communicating on your cell phone to spread out your exposure. Before putting your cell phone to the ear, wait until your correspondent has picked up. This limits the power of the electromagnetic field emitted near your ear and the duration of your exposure.
9 Avoid using your cell phone when the signal is weak or when moving at high speed, such as in a car or train, as this automatically increases power to a maximum as the phone repeatedly attempts to connect to a new relay antenna.
10 When possible, communicate via text messaging rather than making a call, limiting the duration of exposure and the proximity to the body.
11 Choose a device with the lowest SAR possible (SAR = Specific Absorption Rate, which is a measure of the strength of the magnetic field absorbed by the body). SAR ratings of contemporary phones by different manufacturers are available by searching for “sar ratings cell phones” on the internet.
CONCLUSION
The cell phone is a remarkable invention and a breakthrough of great social importance. Our society will no longer do without cell phones. None of the members on the expert committee has stopped or intends to stop using cell telephones. This includes Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, a 16 year survivor of brain cancer. However, we, the users, must all take precautionary measures in view of recent scientific data on the biological effects of cell phone use, especially those who already have cancer.
In addition, manufacturers and service providers must also assume responsibility. It is their responsibility to provide appliances and equipment with the lowest possible risk and to constantly evolve their technology in this direction. They should also encourage consumers to use their devices in a way that is most compatible with preserving their health.
In the early 1980’s, the owners of asbestos mines were reduced to bankruptcy as a result of lawsuits brought by the families of deceased exposed workers. A few years later, a key executive of Johns Manville, the most prominent company, drew lessons from the years of struggle of his industry against medical data and the scientists who were drawing attention to the risks of asbestos. He concluded with regret those greater warnings for the public, the establishment of more effective precautions, and more extensive medical research "could have saved lives, and probably also shareholders, the industry, and the benefits of its product.” [13, 14]
We call on the cell phone companies to provide independent access to records of use so that appropriate studies can be carried out.
That is what we wish for today's cell phone industry. We do not need to ban this technology, but to adapt it – to harness it – so that it never becomes a major cause of illness.

HOW TO USE PHONE
INTRODUCTION
Somehow it seems that as soon as a child can hold one, they are intrigued with a telephone. They like to hear the ring of the phones; they like to make believe they are talking on one. It seems that they learn to use the telephone before they can walk or even talk. After all, they do not have to talk to hear the telephone itself talk. Yes, even the newest toy phones, have voices.
STEPS
1. There are many different types of phones now that come in all shapes and sizes. There are mobile phones, cell phones and the regular land line phone.
2. Use the land line phone, by picking up the receiver, and dialing the number from the base by pushing down each button of the number you are dialing. Always wait for a dial tone before dialing. Make sure you replace the phone onto the base after you are done talking. If there is no dial tone, the phone may not be plugged in properly, its source of power may be gone/inaccessible, or your service provider may be having difficulties.
3. Know how to use a rotary telephone in case you come across it in a hotel, or at someone's home. Lift the receiver off the phone; place your pointer finger into the opening in the keypad, in the letters or numbers that you want to dial. Then just turn the dial clockwise until your finger meets the finger stop. Repeat for each number or letter you need to dial. This takes so much longer, because the dial pad has to return to the start, each time you dial a number. This is why this phone was replaced with the numerical key pad.
4. Use the wireless phone by merely picking up the phone itself, placing the receiver to your ear to make sure you hear a dial tone, and pressing each phone number you want. If there is no dial tone, you may need to press a 'Talk'/'On' button, commonly located in either the upper right/left corner of the buttons layout. If this is the case, you will need to press this button again to 'hang up'/end the call -- in some other cases, there is a separate 'end'/'Off' button used to terminate the connection. If there is still no dial tone, the phone's battery may be out of power (most wireless phones come with a cradle that acts as a charger), or missing. It is typically safe to leave the wireless phone outside of the cradle, but keep in mind that the batteries do need to be charged in order for the phone to work. Additionally, wireless phones only work within a certain range of its cradle/station; some phones have a longer range than others, but if you bring it outside of that zone, it may not function.
5. Cell phones act almost identically to wireless phones, except that they are not based on a land line -- rather, as indicated by their name, they make use of 'cells'. Thus, your cell phone will have a different number than your home land line. Another important distinction to make is that with cell phones, incoming long-distance calls are chargeable to your account, unless otherwise indicated in the terms of agreement or other such documents between you and your service provider. How to Convince Your Parents to Let You Have a Cell Phone
In our high-tech and modern society, not having a cell phone is a real disadvantage. Here is how to convince your parents to let you have one.
Steps
Figure out why they won't let you have a cell. Is it because you always lose things? Or, are you messy with your stuff and they're afraid for you to carry something as precious as a cell phone around? Maybe you're too young? Try figuring that out before proceeding to the next step.
List the pros and cons of having a cell. Don't be biased. Try to put as many cons as the pros.
Try to work on the pros. Sweet talk your mom! Beat 'round the bush with your dad. Try to change the attitude that they disapprove of (and therefore forbid you to have a cell phone). Tell them the pros. Hint as much as you can.
- Tell your parents that it would be smart to have a cell phone for emergencies.
- Tell them you need one when you go on vacation with a friend or for after school if you have a hectic schedule.
Become as responsible as you can be. If you're old enough, get a job. Do everything you can.
Offer to help pay for it yourself, perhaps out of your allowance.
Find different sources. Go to different family members like aunts, cousins and grandparents asking them to help you.
Tips
- You also might throw the idea of the pre-paid cell phone so that they will have a fixed cost to consider.
- Don't mention it right out. That will make them even madder and harder to persuade.
- Pay for it!
- Show them you really care and want it.
- Try not to do the 'please please', I really need it'. That will just make your parents even harder to persuade.
- Don't say, "But all my friends have a phone!" Your parents will just say, "Good. You can use theirs instead."
- Save up! Tell your parents you will help pay.
- Make a deal with your parents: Say mom can I use your cell phone for 1 whole month and see if I'm responsible enough and if you are they might consider letting you have a phone.
- Remember, aim for NEED, and not WANT. Give them reasons why you need a cell phone. Do you have soccer practice after school? Do you go to some public place every Saturday?
- Don't get mad if they say no. Don't whine if they say no. Don't scream if they say yes. Act mature.

Consider using your local phone company and adding the cell phone to your home phone bills and see if there are any discounts. Otherwise, find a company with the features you like, make sure their service is good in your area, and try to get a company your friends have because many offer free mobile to mobile minutes which could be helpful.
Purchase a cell phone and associated plan. If you have bad credit or you simply want to try having a cell phone without signing up for a long contract, you may want a prepaid or pay-as-you-go plan.
